“Bigg Hands refurbished my bathroom two years ago, and more recently my kitchen. I am delighted with the results, as I now have two of the most important rooms in the house looking great and, more importantly, fully functional to me as a wheelchair user. Jon Rebbeck was recommended to me by close relatives who had been pleased with his work. The bathroom is a wet room design, and Jon took great care to ensure the sink, shower chair, toilet and support rails were positioned precisely, recognising that any minor inaccuracy could make the difference between a bathroom I could use easily and one that made life difficult for me.
“Jon had the necessary attention to detail and patience to ensure, for example, that my knees could get under the sinks and work surfaces, and that the floor levels were seamless. He clearly has pride in doing work of high quality, and I was impressed that, when stripping both rooms of existing furnishings, he and his team made absolutely sure that the existing foundations, plumbing and electrics were robust, repairing any existing defects thoroughly. “Bigg Hands are nearing the end of major renovations to our Victorian terraced house in West Didsbury. For us, it’s a major project — and we were nervous to get it right. Jon came highly recommended to us by neighbours. Work has been completed to a very high standard, and we have managed to live through and alongside the building project, thanks to Jon and his team’s care and consideration, as well as their focus on tidiness at the end of each day.
“We were seeking to address very particular problem areas in our old house through the renovations, such as heat loss, damp, draughts, dodgy past DIY and dark spaces, as well as upgrade the house for the next 20 years. Our home is already lots warmer and we’re delighted with the quality of the new slate roof, exterior repointing, enlarged and fully insulated attic space and new velux windows. The bathroom and loo have been reconfigured, updated and beautifully finished, to include a modern sash window. Work on the new kitchen is underway.
Jon has coordinated all trades from roofers to plasterers, electricians and repointing specialists, and given us good guidance along the way in terms of decisions and choices. The team has cracked on, been very punctual and hardworking, and we’ve felt very comfortable leaving them to it. Renovations have taken longer than expected, but then we have added extra work to the list, and quality has never been compromised. We are very happy to have chosen Bigg Hands and, just like our neighbours, we would highly recommend them to you.”

“Jon came to us via a recommendation, to rip out and replace an ageing kitchen.
Victorian house — wonky floors and walls — what could possibly go wrong? Nothing, that Jon couldn’t fix. Joists and floors levelled, walls knocked through to create new doorways, utilities moved, underfloor heating installed, tiling, joinery, floor-to-ceiling kitchen units — Jon dealt with it all, and more. Ripping out a family kitchen in a busy house with 3 children was never going to be easy, but Jon made it so.
He’s professional, polite, incredibly clean and tidy, reliable, clearly proud of his workmanship and somewhat of a perfectionist, which is surely a good thing, right? The kids even miss him now he’s gone!
Would we recommend him? Absolutely. He’s probably the best tradesman we’ve encountered in 20 years. The end result is brilliant!”
